Meeting with community leaders in the field
On March 3, part of the Dalia Association team headed to Bethlehem to meet with community leaders in the field. The visit started at the Palestine Museum of Natural History with a meeting and tour by professor Mazin Qumsiyeh. The photos in this post show the aquaponics system established on the grounds of the museum. The museum is working to develop sustainable environmental models that can be used by Palestinian communities.
The Dalia Association also met with Ms. Vivien Ghobar of Bethlehem 2000 and discussed ways to engage the Palestinian Diaspora. And finally, the team met with Ms. Islam Abu Odeh of the Noor society for the disabled in the Aida Refugee Camp. According to Islam, there are many cases of families with disabled children, and yet there are no services and the mothers are often left with little support. Islam organized women in the camp to provide support for each other and raise awareness for the need for proper support services.
