Governance Structure

Our Conflict of Interest Policy guides all our behavior and relationships.

Our Contribution Acceptance Policy guides all our fundraising and philanthropy development

As a community foundation we realize the importance of continually earning credibility and legitimacy in the eyes of the communities we serve, including our contributors. To this end, we focus on ensuring that our governance structure is trustworth and transparent and that it promotes our governance principles, which include:

  • everyone should be able to influence and no one should be able to control;
  • accountability;
  • competence and professionalism;
  • transparency; and
  • regular rotation of people in governing positions.

Our governance structure is made up of several bodies:

General Assembly Our General Assembly is made up of community members representing various parts of the Palestinian community. They elect and supervise the board of directors. They approve the annual accounts.

Board of Directors Board Members are committed to intense involvement and active participation in Dalia Association, above and beyond the norm for such a position. The board functions in accordance with the organization's by-laws. The positions of chair, treasurer and sectretary are selected by the board. The board meets at least quarterly and often monthly. Those that are physically unable to attend (i.e. Gaza & Diaspora members) are kept updated via electronic communication.

Executive Committee The executive committee consists of two board members and the executive director. They meet between regular board meetings to discuss items in detail. The committee is empowered to make some operational decisions without the rest of the board.

Community Committees Volunteer committees are established as and when the need arises. Committees include:

  • Audit Committee;
  • Governance Committee;
  • Program Committee;
  • Resource Mobilization Committee; and
  • Website & Database Committee.
