Under the auspices of Dalia Association, through the 2023 Community Grants Course, in partnership with the Women's Agricultural Cooperative (Roots), a women's cooperative (Ritaj) held in the village of Assera in Nablus Governorate, the event of "Ektisad Al-Sumud" on Thursday 23/11/2023 which represents a community call to return to land, promote domestic economy and re-awareness of its role in support for the Palestinian people.
The event included a discussion on the current role of the economy of resilience in the shadow of the on-going war in solidifying our people's resilience, its relationship with complementary environmental agriculture reconciled with Palestinian nature that ensures that the environment is enriched and preserved. Attendees underwent a simplified training session on seed farming mechanisms, the privacy of each crop and how to provide an environment fit for seed growth.
A variety of environmental seed packages provided by "Mashtal Juthor cooperative" in Beit Furyk were distributed to participants to encourage them to start environmental farming, providing practical training on the basis of cultivation and guiding them to know the conditions for planting each seed, and containing the following seeds: Thyme seedlings, lettuce, onion, cabbage, flower, broccoli, parsley seeds, spinach, radishes, watercress, beans and peas, as well as a paper of agricultural tips for planting all previous ones in a way that ensures a successful agricultural crop with free follow-up to all package recipients via social media pages of Mashtal Juthor.
It is worth mentioning that the event was scheduled to take place on Thursday, 16/11/2023, in the presence of women from Assera village and neighboring villages, representatives of local government bodies, both the Ministry of Agriculture and the Economy and the Women's Committees Federation. The event was postponed due to the IOF's decision to demolish the house of a martyr in the neighbouring village of Urif. The area was declared a military zone, blocking all roads and the barrier gates of the surrounding villages. At the time of the second scheduled meeting in 23/11/2022, the occupation engulfed the city of Nablus and Balata camp, and there were strong clashes. As a result, no representatives of local government bodies, both the Ministry of Agriculture and the Economy and the Women's Committees Union were able to leave Nablus and attend the event.
