The "Yad Al-Hekaya" (Hand of Tales) project is part of the "Women Supporting Women" program implemented by Dalia Association. It aims to support Palestinian women by promoting, empowering, and developing traditional Palestinian crafts. The project seeks to revive Palestinian cultural heritage by integrating it with art and highlighting its symbolism.
Fifteen women were selected to participate from a pool of 120 applicants, focusing on crafts that reflect the traditional identity of Palestine. The selection criteria aimed to ensure diversity among participants, representing different Palestinian governorates and contributing to a broader dissemination of cultural heritage.
Participants underwent an intensive training program consisting of 45 educational hours, emphasizing traditional crafts and their integration with modern arts, while highlighting the aesthetic and symbolic aspects of each craft. The training also included marketing skills and social media management, ensuring participants could effectively enter the job market. Additionally, a workshop on protection and safety policies was provided to ensure the well-being of participants in their fields of work.
The training was not limited to theoretical aspects; 21 field visits were organized to the participants' workplaces. Moreover, 48 hours of direct supervision were offered to monitor their progress, which significantly improved their products and fostered new ideas, enhancing their skills.
As a result of the program, 110 artisanal products were created, reflecting the aesthetics and symbols of Palestinian heritage. These products included accessories, pottery, and traditional embroidery, showcasing the richness and diversity of Palestinian heritage. Through this production, Palestinian women were able to preserve their cultural heritage through their skills and creativity.
