"Harvesting Hope: The Resilience in Gaza's Dragon Fruit Initiative"
'The initiative succeeded, and we believe it will continue to thrive.' In the midst of war and challenges, these words resonate deeply, a testament to the remarkable success of a project born from adversity. Funded by the 'Giving for Change' project, the initiative emerged to fill the absence of dragon fruit in Gaza. Despite the difficulties, resilient individuals embarked on cultivating this new and unfamiliar product, a journey marked by determination and hope. The first dragon fruit blossomed symbolizing triumph for these women. More than just a fruit, it embodies resilience, hope, and the transformative power of positive change."
“A World Without Voices”
Through the "Hekaya: A World Without Voices" initiative, funded by the "Giving for Change" project, Amani, a young Gazan deaf woman, effectively shared her story through a touching animated film filled with emotions and sentiments. This narrative encapsulates the voice of the deaf and mute, sharing a powerful message about the pain of loss experienced by Amani after she lost her sister in Gaza.
Here, we express our solidarity with Amani for her courage and unique creativity in sharing her thoughts. We emphasize the importance of supporting such initiatives that promote art and creativity for individuals with special needs. Check Amani’s animated video expressing her feelings HERE.
From a Health Hazard to a Public Park
The children of Kafr Al-Labad - Tulkarm and their families spent a Friday at the archaeological pools park, rehabilitated through the initiative of "Walk on Your Land and Claim It". After years of deprivation, the initiative supervised by Dalia Association in partnership with the Kafr Al-Labad Municipality and the Kafr Al-Labad Sports Club succeeded in transforming the archaeological pools, which had become a health hazard, into a public park.
The initiative worked tirelessly over five months, gathering volunteers from the local community to clean and rehabilitate the area. They added children's play equipment, wooden benches, and planted fruit-bearing and native trees.
The park was inaugurated on Thursday, December 28, 2023, with the presence of partners and representatives from the Ministries of Agriculture, Tourism and Antiquities, Local Government, and Agricultural Relief in Tulkarm Governorate.
Organic farm in Beit Surik – Supported By Jerusalem Fund
The "House of Jerusalem for Environmental Agriculture," linked with the Beit Al-Maqdis Cooperative Agricultural Society in Beit Surik, northwest of Jerusalem, has received funding from the Dalia Association's Jerusalem Fund. The initiative was supported and funded through the generous donations of our community demonstrating community giving. This fund aims to support Palestinian community priorities in Jerusalem, such as education, home demolitions, unemployment and other issues depending on the constantly changing priorities in the city and its vicinity. The initiative focuses on establishing an organic farm with diverse crops and herbs, offering workshops for farmers and enthusiasts, and plans to market fresh products through the "Your Farm's Basket" campaign, promoting environmental agriculture and ecotourism in Jerusalem.
Al-Ouna Through Culture and Art - Al Ouna (indigenous aid system)
The "Al-Ouna through Culture and Art" project implemented by Dalia Association. The project did different things like teaching people about the historical context of Palestinian food and its heritage, wall drawing in Kufr Aqab as a way for children to express their feelings and what it means to live in Kufr Aqab, and organization a play that addresses problems faced by Palestinians living in Kufr Aqab narrated by children through monologues. This project highlighted Kufr Aqab equal community challenges, obstacles, and ways to overcome them through art and culture.
Stay tuned for more updates as we work hand in hand with our community, embodying the spirit of community-driven philanthropy.
