Saja Shami

Community Programs Officer

 Saja Shami was born in Jerusalem and raised in Battir village, where she has lived for much of her life. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in English Literature from Bethlehem University in 2011. During her studies, Saja explored English literature, language, and history while also acquiring proficiency in French. In addition to her academic work, she was actively involved in the Ambassador Program in public relations, which enabled her to participate in international political and economic studies organized by Georgetown University and the Greek Association for Atlantic and European Cooperation.

After completing her undergraduate studies, Saja worked in alternative tourism at the Battir Landscape Eco-Museum. She later pursued a Master’s degree in International Cooperation and Development from Bethlehem University, in collaboration with Pavia University in Italy. Since 2019, she has been a Community Programs Officer at the Dalia Association, where she has led the development of numerous initiatives, many of which have become sustainable institutions.

Saja also founded a green project that transforms plastic waste into useful items, addressing environmental challenges with innovative solutions. She is deeply committed to the self-sustainability of Palestinian society.
